Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(LANCASTER, CA) - The Lancaster JetHawks continue to show signs of being ready for the start of the regular season. Jimmy James hurled a perfect three innings and the JetHawks pounded out 14 hits as they defeated the Master's College 12-6 in a seven inning exhibition game Monday night at Clear Channel Stadium.
James dominated the collegiate athletes in his first start at Clear Channel Stadium. Expertly controlling his fastball, James struck out five Mustangs players as he retired all nine batters he faced. Only one hitter got the ball out the infield in the three innings. Brian Steinocher and Richie Lentz struggled in relief, but returner T.J. Large, who saved nine games for the JetHawks a season ago, closed down the Mustangs over the final innings to seal the win.
There was plenty of offense for the JetHawks as they scored in all but one inning. Zak Farkes had three hits and three runs driven in for Lancaster, including a two-run homer that exited Clear Channel Stadium and bounced on Ave. I. Christian Lara added three singles, giving him five hits in the two exhibition games thus far. Mickey Hall added a two-run home run in the win.
The JetHawks will conclude their exhibition schedule Tuesday against Antelope Valley College. The game begins at 5 PM, with the radio and internet broadcast beginning at 4:45 on Magic 1340 AM and at www.JetHawks.com. Fans will have an opportunity to meet the players after the game at the JetHawks Meet-the-Team Party in the third-base BBQ tent.
The JetHawks open the 2008 regular season on April 3 at High Desert before returning to Clear Channel Stadium for the home opener on April 10 against the Lake Elsinore Storm. Tremendous ticket packages starting at only $56 are available for purchase now by calling 661.726.5400.
