
San Jose defeats Toronto in opening game of Carolina Challenge Cup

Game one of the Carolina Challenge Cup featuring the San Jose Earthquakes and Toronto F.C. was called by the referee after 77 minutes Saturday night due to inclement weather. San Jose won the game by a score of one goal to nil, defender Jason Hernandez scored the lone goal in the 22nd minute.
The second game featuring the Charleston Battery and the New York Red Bulls has been postponed and will now be played Sunday, March 16; kick off is set for 3 PM.
All ticket stubs from Saturday's doubleheader will be honored on Sunday; tickets will also be available for $5 for the game. There will be no charge for parking. The Charleston Battery ticket office will open at 1:30 PM, gates open at 3 PM.
