Pasadena Push To Play This Season

September 29, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Los Angeles Push News Release

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that it has added a team in the rapidly-expanding league that will play this season - the Pasadena Push. According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "This team has been in the works for sometime under the very capable leadership of Los Angeles businessman Donye Mitchell, a seasoned entrepreneur with his heart firmly committed to his passion, basketball. Quite frankly, Donye's story is an inspiration and we are very pleased to have someone with his drive and energy as part of the ABA."

Mitchell grew up playing basketball on the tough streets of Compton, California. He developed a bond with his teammates because he had no brothers or sisters. His father was killed while he was a teenager and his mother was hospitalized shortly afterwards. Instead of giving in to inner-city adversity, he PUSHED forward with basketball and education as his top priority. He has a successful business and now he is the very proud owner of an ABA basketball team - The Pasadena Push.

"I am very pleased and proud of the support and encouragement I have received from the ABA and the City of Pasadena. This team fulfills another of my dreams and I am committed to making it a successful team. We have a lot of work to do in a short time, but people who know us know that we work hard and we will be ready," stated Mitchell. Additional details will be forthcoming. Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
