CFL and Geosmack put fans in the midst of the Party on the Prairies

Published on November 16, 2006 under Canadian Football League (CFL) News Release

Winnipeg, Manitoba and Vancouver, British Columbia - (November 16th, 2006) - In the lead up to the 94th Grey Cup championship in Winnipeg, the CFL is proud to announce a cutting edge initiative that allows fans no matter where they are to be a part of the festivities from the comfort of their homes.

The League has partnered with Geosmack Enterprises Inc. to develop and launch a highly interactive 3D "tour" of Canad Inns Stadium in Winnipeg and the Grey Cup festivities through the virtual Google Earth platform.

On the "site" visitors can zoom into Canad Inns Stadium, explore the playing field from different angles - from both an animated blimp and from within the stadium - check seating plans and sight lines, preview highlights and music videos on the Stadium's on field videotron. They can also click through special Grey Cup sponsor links, search for and link to "Party on the Prairies" week events, and discover more than 400 businesses, restaurants, hotels and visitor attractions in and around downtown Winnipeg and much more.

Access links to the CFL Grey Cup 2006 EarthSkin can be found at www.greycup2006.com, www.cfl.ca, www.geolistings.com/cfl and www.geosmack.com. Detailed help information and user feedback can be found at www.geolistings.blogspot.com .

"Our launch of the Grey Cup EarthSkin project signals a leap forward in our commitment to the use of New Media vehicles to bring the game to the fan," says Natalie Agro, the CFL's Director of Media Assets. "We look forward to working closely with the Geosmack team in rolling out highly interactive CFL EarthSkin programs beyond the Grey Cup".

Google Earth, on which the EarthSkins are presented, is a free-of-charge downloadable virtual globe program. It maps the earth by superimposing satellite imagery and aerial photography over a 3D globe. Many large cities are available in a resolution high enough to see details on individual buildings and houses.

Vancouver-based Geosmack Enterprises Inc. created www.geolistings.com to host Google Earth related content such as The CFL Grey Cup 2006 EarthSkin.

"The 2006 Grey Cup showcase project has been an exciting program for us to work on" says Geosmack's CEO George Koochin. "We believe that our EarthSkins initiative holds tremendous potential for the CFL and its fans and partners not only as an interactive entertainment application but one that will evolve to incorporate e-commerce, ticketing, contests, user-generated content, marketing programs and more. This is only the tip of the iceberg."
