Texas Thunder set to open home season tomorrow night
June 6, 2006 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF)
Rockford Thunder News Release
HOUSTON - After winning three of four games in Arizona last weekend to open the 2006 season, the Texas Thunder of National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) will open their home schedule tomorrow night hosting the Michigan Ice at Big League Dreams.
The series with Michigan will begin the Thunder's second season at the Big League Dreams (1150 Big League Dreams Parkway) complex in League City. Like last season, Texas will play their home games at the Wrigley Field replica.
Texas was led offensively in Arizona by rookie Serena Settlemier (Kansas). The 2006 Big XII Player of the Year blasted two home runs and drove in eight RBI's, both of which led the league. For her efforts she was named the NPF Player of the Week.
Christa Williams led the staff in the circle. The three-year veteran from Texas recorded all three of the Thunder's wins in Arizona to lead the league. She also recorded a league-best nine strikeouts.
The games for Michigan will be their first of the 2006 season. The Ice is under consideration to join the league for the 2007 season.
Tickets for all four games are still available. Prices range from $5 to $15 per seat and can be purchased at the gate. Gates open each night at 6 p.m.
