
Bears acquire Lipso Nava, ink outfielder Devore

NEWARK, NJ - The Newark Bears Professional Baseball Club announced today they have traded for infielder Lipso Nava from the Camden Riversharks of the Atlantic League for a player to be named later, and signed former major league outfielder Doug Devore.
Lipso Nava joins the Bears for his 16th professional season overall. Last season with the Riversharks, Nava batted .312 with 97 hits in 88 games, establishing a career high with 23 doubles. The veteran of over 1,300 games will be joining his third Atlantic League team after spending parts of five seasons with the Somerset Patriots and the Riversharks.
Doug Devore will be entering his 8th season in professional ball after being drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 12th round of the 1999 draft. The former Indiana Hoosier outfielder reached the major leagues in 2004 with the Diamondbacks, playing in 50 games and has a career batting average of .224 in the show. Last season, Devore played in the triple-A Pacific Coast League with Tucson and Fresno, batting .295 with 67 RBI in 109 games.
