Jaxx infielder Patterson named Cubs minor league player of the year

(Jackson, TN) September 28th- Diamond Jaxx second baseman Eric Patterson was named the 2005 Chicago Cubs Minor League Player of the Year. A native of Kennesaw, Georgia, he was an 8th round selection by the Cubs in the 2004 draft out of Georgia Tech.

Patterson, the younger brother of former Diamond Jaxx and current Chicago Cubs center fielder Corey Patterson, spent much of the 2005 season with the Class A Peoria Chiefs of the Midwest League before being promoted to Double-A West Tenn in August. With Peoria, he posted a .333 batting average, good for the Midwest League batting title. He also tallied 50 extra base hits, including 13 homeruns, and 71 RBI. Patterson was selected to play in the Arizona Fall League, and will be playing for the Mesa Solar Sox next month.
