Massey, Garrity, Merrill Take Home Week Three MLL Awards

Boston, Mass. - After scoring a career-high five goals in Long Island's 19-14 win over Philadelphia on Saturday night, Lizards attackman Chris Massey has been honored as Major League Lacrosse's Offensive Player of the Week for Week Three, it has been announced by MLL officials.

Massey, who also had an assist in the victory, has led the Lizards to a 2-1 record. He is tied for the team lead in goals with midfielder Blake Miller with 10 goals in three games and ranks second on the team with 13 points.

In addition, Boston goalkeeper Chris Garrity was named the Defensive Player of the Week for his 19-save effort, which also included his first career assist at the end of the first quarter.

Baltimore defenseman Brodie Merrill was named the first winner of the Cascade MLL Rookie of the Week award for this season after scoring a pair of goals in Baltimore's 24-8 win over New Jersey on Sunday afternoon. The third overall pick in last Wednesday's Collegiate Draft, Merrill also added five ground balls for the Bayhawks, who set a league record for margin of victory.
