Mobile, Ala.--Dust off that ragtop, rev up that engine and turn those wheels toward Hank Aaron Stadium, Saturday, October 23, 2004, for the Animal Rescue Foundation's annual "Cars for ARF", a classic show and benefit. Now in its sixth year, ARF is asking area motor enthusiasts to show their metal muscle and support its programs for companion animals and feral cats.
A free-to-see family event, the festivities start at 10am â4pm. All registered vehicles will be given a space in the parking lot of the stadium. Music from Teddy Smelser and Elvis, the original hound dog will be performing.
A silent auction will be held in the Z-Technology Center at the Hank. Memorabilia will include pit crew shirts from Rusty Wallace and Ryan Newman, an autographed photo of Richard Petty, an autographed photo and hat from Michael Waltrip, a Dale Earnhardt Sr. Daytona 500 win poster and Penske driver Brendan Gaughan t-shirt and picture. Alabama and Auburn fans can bid on an Alabama hat and book signed by Gene Stallings and a Terry Bowden-penned Auburn Tigers hat.
Launched in 1995, the Animal Rescue Foundation is a non-profit, no-kill rescue group. Spay and neuter assistance, foster care, weekly a adoptions and feral cat trap-neuter-release, are among the programs these volunteers actively promote.
