ABA heads to Buffalo in 2005

August 2, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. Joe Newman, ABA Co-founder, today confirmed the rumor that the ABA will be playing in Buffalo, NY in 2005. "It is remarkable how fast news travels," said Newman. "No sooner than we approve a team, the phone starts ringing asking if it is true. The basketball grapevine never ceases to amaze me."

Newman added, "But perhaps in this case it is not unusual. Team Buffalo LLC, the ownership group, is led by Gary Nice, President of Group One Broadcasting, Inc. and one of the prime movers behind EMI, the company putting together the ABA Radio Network to broadcast an ABA Game of the Week.

Nice concluded, "The reception we are finding from radio stations across the country is such that we have no doubt that the ABA will become one of the hottest professional sports leagues ever. Next to my love of broadcasting is my love of basketball. We decided to jump in with both feet and will make the great city of Buffalo proud."
