Kansas City Phantoms News Release

Independence, Mo. - Six players from 2017's Phantoms squad have re-joined the team for 2018 as the team heads into training camp next week. Jared Elmore, Jarard Milo, Kevin Funches, Korey Hollingshed, Travis Mosby, and Tyrone Groves will join GM/Head Coach Meadow Lemon as the team aims to build on the three-game win streak the team closed last season with.

"It's always important to me to have players with a local connection," said Lemon. "These guys have a passion for Kansas City and they'll help our incoming players connect with the football heart of the city. Of course, these guys make it easy to commit to local players when they're as talented as they are."

Elmore (6'3" 215) caught 23 passes for 333 yards and was second on the team with eight touchdowns despite playing in only nine games in 2017. He's a four-year veteran of the indoor game, including a year with the Kansas City Renegades in 2013. He's twice recorded 20-plus touchdowns in a season. He led MidAmerica Nazarene in Olathe, KS, in all receiving categories and was a NAIA All-American as a senior in 2009.

Milo (6'3", 211) recorded 47 tackles, two for a loss, forced a fumble, broke up seven passes, and led the Phantoms with three interceptions last year. At Kansas State University, he recorded 82 tackles and broke up five passes as a senior defensive back.

Funches (6'0" 180) made 10 tackles in four games in 2017, including a tackle for a loss, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Before joining the Phantoms, he played defensive back and returned kicks for Tusculum University.

Hollingshed (6'0", 247) made four tackles in two games with the Phantoms last year after wrapping up his collegiate career with Independence CC.

Mosby (6'0", 180) a Lee's Summit grad, suited up just once for the Phantoms in 2017, making a tackle in limited action. He'll look to make a bigger impact for the squad in 2018. Before joining the Phantoms, Mosby played at Washburn University in Topeka, where he returned punts, kicks, and played wide receiver.

Groves (6'0", 195)continues to man defensive backfields in his hometown, having played safety for Kansas City's Avila University and the Kansas City Bulldogs developmental football team, which he owns.

Phantoms training camp opens on February 22, 2018 at Epic Sports Lodge, 19310 E 50th Terrace, Independence, Missouri. The season kicks off on March 16 at 7:05 p.m. at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena against the Omaha Beef. Tickets are available at http://kcphantoms.com/ .
