Lincoln\'s Lamoureux named 2004 Goalies\' World / USHL Top Goalie

May 7, 2004 - United States Hockey League (USHL) News Release

The United States Hockey League, in conjunction with Goalies' World Magazine, announced today that Lincoln goaltender Phillippe Lamoureux (Grand Forks, N.D.) was named Goalies' World Magazine / USHL Top Goaltender for 2004.

The honor places Lamoureux among a list of netminders that includes Jan Chovan, Bobby Goepfert, Dan Ellis, Rob Anderson, Jeff Sanger and Karl Goehring.

"Phil had a great three-year career in Lincoln," said Stars head coach and general manager Steve Johnson. "He was a big part of a couple of championships and his tremendous work ethic will allow him to continue to improve."

Lincoln's all-time wins leader, Lamoureux posted 22 victories for the Stars this season and led the USHL in saves, posting a stellar .918 saves percentage.

In the Goalies' World Magazine scoring system, Lamoureux accumulated 104.72 points.

Waterloo's Kevin Regan (103.79), Green Bay's Troy Davenport (103.60), St. Louis' Charlie Effinger (103.46) and Chicago's Shane Connelly (102.83) comprised the Goalies' World top five.

The Goalies' World scoring system reflects a pure goaltender evaluation that reduces the effect of many non-goaltending variables. A variety of statistics, including shots faced and games played, are compiled into a cumulative score by the Goalies' World computer. The goaltender who combines the highest monthly figure with the largest monthly increase is the Goalies' World / USHL Goaltender of the Month. The goaltender who posts the greatest numbers over the entire season is the Goalies' World / USHL Top Goaltender.

At season's end, the USHL announces the league's two annual goaltending awards. The USHL's Goaltender of the Year is selected by the league's coaches and general managers.

The Goalies' World / USHL Top Goalie is the athlete who produced the highest annual score according to the Goalies' World evaluation system. Lamoureux claimed both honors in 2003-04.
