December 31, 2013 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) News Release
Sacramento, Tulsa Taste Sweet Victory
12/31/13 - The weekend started with three winless teams in the PASL and it ended with one. The Sacramento Surge earned their first road win in franchise history, stifling the Turlock Express 5-3 on Friday.
Meanwhile the Tulsa Revolution used two rallies to tie the Dallas Sidekicks 4-4 and 8-8, after trailing 4-2 and 8-4, only to lose 13-8 to fall to 0-8. The plucky Revolution returned home on Saturday and beat the Texas Strikers 13-8 before a season high 1,007 at the Cox Business Center.
The 0-8 Strikers now must try to break their slide. Texas started 0-10 last year before winning three games.
Player of the Week
Jesus Flores, Chicago Mustangs
The Mustangs improved to 8-0 after an 8-0 win over the visiting Illinois Piasa. Flores, who has started 24 straight games, recorded the first PASL shutout of the season and only the 6th in league history. Midway through the season Flores has a 4.50 GAA, considerably below last year's 6.22 mark.

Sockers, Waza Regain Form
The San Diego Sockers are picking up steam again. Led by four goals and two assists by Kraig Chiles, the Sockers routed Ontario 13-5. San Diego has now won six straight, while the Fury have dropped six in a row. Detroit doubled up Cincinnati 12-6 behind four Worteh Sampson goals.
Hidalgo, Cleveland, San Diego, Bay Area, Wichita Advance in US Open
The Cleveland Freeze became the first team to reach the Semifinals of the US Open, while Hidalgo eliminated Dallas, San Diego ousted Ontario, Wichita downed the Denver Dynamite, and Bay Area sidelined Sacramento. Follow the tournament on Twitter @USOpenMinifoot
Piasa Looking to Find the Road
The Illinois Piasa became the first PASL team to be shutout since...the Illinois Piasa on 11/17/12. The Piasa extended their league record road losing streak to 17 straight games. Overall they have lost eight in a row since a season opening win over Tulsa.
Nestor Hernandez Breaks Out
The Sidekicks major offseason acquisition was not exactly struggling with 13 points in five games, but he was well below last year's 50 point pace. Nestor broke out in a big with with four goals and four assists against Tulsa and another two goals and an assist in Sunday's 12-9 loss to Hidalgo. The 11 point weekend propelled him to 7th in the PASL in scoring.
