Professional Arena Soccer League Update
November 5, 2013 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) News Release
Great Expectations and Gate Expectations
11/5/13 - The PASL's sixth season is just a week old, but the league has already set a new single game attendance record and has drawn three of its top 12 all-time crowds.
The Ontario Fury drew 5,285 for a preseason game against the Mexico Toros. On Saturday, the Dallas Sidekicks opened their season with 4,514 against the Wichita B-52s. Sunday, the Monterrey Flash rechristened Arena Monterrey and treated a league-record crowd of 9,627 to an exciting 6-5 sudden death win against the Hidalgo La Fiera.
Player of the Week
Enrique Tovar, Las Vegas Legends
"Qeeks" Tovar relaunched his MVP campaign after a career-year landed him on the All-League Second Team last year. Tovar returned to Las Vegas for another season with a bigger goal in mind: winning a championship. He is off to a good start on both counts, with a league-high 13 points in two road wins. Tovar had three goals and three assists as Las Vegas rallied from 4-2 down to beat the Bay Area Rosal, 12-7. The next night he piled four goals and three assists on the Sacramento Surge in a 14-6 win.

Expansion Blues
Expansion teams were 1-5 in Week 1, with only the Monterrey Flash taking home a win. The Tulsa Revolution dropped two road games, while the Cleveland Freeze, Bay Area Rosal, and Wichita B-52s lost single games.
Goals Galore
As always, the goals continued to flow freely in the PASL's first week. Week 1's eight games averaged 15.75 goals per game with a high of 20 goals in Las Vegas's 14-6 win and a low of 11 goals in two separate games. Every team scored at least three goals in their games.
US Open Takes Shape
TOSB FC, the Austin Capitals, Austin FC, Real Harrisburg, BH United, and Piasa Premier qualified for the US Open Arena Soccer Championships via qualifying tournaments played over the last couple weeks. Those teams will now face PASL teams in the next round.
Sockers Fans to Get Rings
The San Diego Sockers will open their schedule Saturday and the players will receive their 2013 Newman Cup championship rings. The first 4,000 fans will also receive replica rings of their team's 14th indoor title.
