Atlanta Sharks Join AIF

American Indoor Football is pleased to announce it's newest expansion team for 2014 season the Atlanta Sharks. American Indoor Football is a professional Indoor Football League based in Baltimore Maryland. The Sharks where courted by several different indoor football leagues before selecting the AIF. Betty Robinson a member of the Sharks ownership group stated that the business model of the AIF best suited the organization and gave them the best opportunity for success and they are excited to be in such a great league and look forward to the challenges it brings.
The Sharks ownership group is led by Betty Chaney-Robinson a Dean at a local charter school in Atlanta area with over 27 years in the education field, Daphne Towns another member of the group is from the Graphic design industry and Dana Towns is from the print media field.
The AIF is excited about the addition of the Atlanta Sharks John Morris CEO of the AIF stated, the Sharks bring to the league an exciting indoor veteran coach Marcus James who has coached and been part of the following indoor football organizations in 2010 and 2011 Coach James was with the Erie Exposion (CIFL) as an assistant coach and in 2013 he was the defensive coordinator of the Kentucky Xtreme (CIFL), He has done player evaluations for the Tulsa Talons of the Arena Football League and coached an outdoor developmental team to back to back Military Bowl victories over the Fort Benning Doughboys. The Doughboys at the time were coached by indoor football veteran head coach Jason Gibson and his staff with the Columbus Lions.
Coach James has a reputation of being able to recruit and motivate quality indoor football players and the AIF expects him to put a quality product on the field from its inception. Some of the players that have moved up through the ranks under his direction have been DeMarcus James of the Dallas Vigilantes (AF1), Kevin Conception of the Jacksonville Sharks (AF1) and Jerrikus Speights who was invited to the Rookie Camp of the Oakland Raiders (NFL). In Addition many of Coach James players have played on championship indoor teams or been named to league all-star squads in the IFL, PIFL, LSFL and CIFL.
While Atlanta will be the southern most city in the AIF in 2014 it fits well into future AIF expansion plans as the league is currently in discussions with three other potential ownership groups in the region, two from South Carolina and one from North Carolina.
Look for more AIF expansion teams to be announced in the near future as the AIF looks to wrap up its expansion efforts for the 2014 season in the next thirty days.
