Professional Arena Soccer League Update
December 25, 2012 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) News Release
Express Back on Track
12/25/12 - The San Diego Sockers and their 45 game winning streak better watch their back. The second longest winning streak in arena soccer belongs to the Turlock Express with a comparatively modest six straight.
The Express are set to head into arguably the toughest portion of their schedule with a three game road trip through Phoenix, San Diego, and Mexico. And while they have been winning consistently, three of the wins on this streak were against the 0-9 Sacramento Surge, and the Express struggled at times in those games.
Express leading scorer Adrian Gutierrez took over the league lead with 16 assists and is tied with Brian Farber for second in scoring with 28 points. Ivan Campos and Bronil Koochoie are right behind pacing the Turlock attack. The recent addition of All-League Second Team D Jesse Horta will only strengthen the Express on both sides of the ball.
Player of the Week
Aaron Susi, San Diego Sockers
San Diego Sockers captain Aaron Susi is having something of a career year at the ripe age of 38. Susi, a fifth year PASL veteran and the only player to play on all four league championship teams, notched two goals and three assists in the Sockers 14-3 win over Anaheim Saturday. That kind of game has been par for the course for Susi, who has 25 points in seven games. His 11 goals already matches his 13 game total for last season. Susi's PASL career high is 41 points but he's currently on pace for over 50 points.

Sockers Streaks at 32, 45
San Diego's regular season winning streak stands at 32. San Diego is also an all-time 29-0 at home during the regular season. Including playoffs, US Open games, and the FIFRA Club Championships, the Sockers have won 45 in a row, surpassing the US Pro Team Sports record of 40 set by the indoor football Sioux Falls Storm in 2008.
Kings Win Pivotal Game Against Heat
The Cincinnati Kings beat the Harrisburg Heat 7-4 on Saturday to take a commanding lead in the race for a playoff spot in the Eastern Division. At 6-1 and the Kings are tied with the Detroit Waza, while Harrisburg fell to 1-5. The game was closer than the score indicates - Jeff Hughes scored two empty net goals for the final margin -- but the Heat have not been able to close out games this season and fell to 0-3 against Cincinnati.
Kafedzic Goes on a Rampage
The Illinois Piasa traded Elvir Kafedzic to Rockford and in his debut with the Rampage he scored six goals to pace a 16-5 win over the Texas Strikers. It was the third time Kafedzic has scored six goals in a PASL game.
Still Perfect in Their Own Ways
The Dallas Sidekicks (5-0) and San Diego Sockers (8-0) remain the league's only two undefeated teams, while the Sacramento Surge (0-9) and Texas Strikers (0-6) are the PASL's only winless teams.
