Unpredictable Storm Staking Claim in Southwestern Division
12/18/12 - When you lose your final 15 games of the previous season you're bound to be low on anyone's radar. Yet here the Arizona Storm sit in second place in the Southwestern Division with a 4-4 record.
Despite impressive wins over Anaheim (twice), Phoenix, and Texas, the Storm squad has also endured 11-2, 18-3, and 16-2 losses along the way.
The Storm are riding a two game winning streak that included their franchise-first road victory and Saturday's 12-6 win over Anaheim. David Hague led the way with four goals as Arizona built a 7-0 firrst quarter lead and cruised the rest of the way.
Player of the Week
Rodrigo Barbirato
Barbirato has successfully made the jump from the Las Vegas Knights of the PASL-Premier to the Legends and the PASL. The charismatic Brazilian turned in a hat trick on Saturday to help pace the Legends to a 10-4 win over Real Phoenix. In five games this season, Barbirato, 31, has 11 goals and three assists.
Kick Starters - Conversations you should be having about the PASL
Sockers Streaks at 31, 44
San Diego's regular season winning streak stands at 31. San Diego is also an all-time 28-0 at home during the regular season. Including playoffs, US Open games, and the FIFRA Club Championships, the Sockers have won 44 in a row, surpassing the US Pro Team Sports record of 40 set by the indoor football Sioux Falls Storm in 2008.
Flash Back in Central Race
The Rio Grande Valley Flash hosted the Rockford Rampage in a pivotal game Sunday and easily won, 7-1. The Flash improved to 3-2, while the Rampage took their third straight loss to fall to 4-3. The Flash, Rampage, and Chicago Mustangs (3-2) are in a virtual second place tie looking up at the Dallas Sidekicks (5-0).
Sidekicks Stampede Strikers
The Dallas Sidekicks haven't played a game outside of the state of Texas yet, but they hold all the bragging rights over the Texas Strikers and RGV Flash, their in-state rivals. Dallas has beaten each of them twice and set an all-time Sidekicks record with 21 goals in Saturday's 21-1 demolition of the Strikers.
Still Perfect in Their Own Ways
The Dallas Sidekicks (5-0) and San Diego Sockers (7-0) remain the league's only two undefeated teams, while the Sacramento Surge (0-8) and Texas Strikers (0-4) are the PASL's only winless teams.
