Professional Arena Soccer League Update

December 4, 2012 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) News Release

Turlock, Detroit Give Up Big Leads, Then Rally for Big Wins

12/4/12 - One of the great things about arena soccer is that a big lead is not always a safe lead. The Detroit Waza and Turlock Express were both reminded of this Saturday, but neither let it cost them.

In the night's earlier game Detroit built leads of 4-1 and 5-2 over the Chicago Mustangs before Miguel Vaca went on a tear. Vaca score four straight goals and Nestor Hernandez tacked one on to give Chicago a 7-5 lead. As the game became more heated, the Waza kept their cool and rallied to tie the game before Costea Decu won it, cutting across the middle to give Detroit the decisive 8-7 lead with just 54 seconds remaining.

In Turlock, the Anaheim Bolts erased a 7-2 deficit. Anaheim made a series of runs, but Turlock always answered back until the fourth quarter when Orlando Alcaraz gave the Bolts their only lead of the night, 12-11, with 2:30 left in regulation. Joe Barajas broke the hearts of Bolts Nation when he tied the game with just 18 seconds to go. In overtime Ivan Campos netted his fourth goal of the game for Turlock, securing the big 13-12 Pacific Division win.

Player of the Week

Ivan Campos, Turlock Express

The 25 year old rookie has had a strong impact on the Turlock scoresheet this season. Campos scored four goals, including the OT game-winner, and an assist in Turlock's 13-12 win over Anaheim on Saturday. He has points in all five games so far and has totaled ten goals and three assists.
