CIFL Welcomes Back Marion Blue Racers
July 13, 2012 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) News Release
SAGINAW, MI - The Continental Indoor Football League is proud to announce the return of the Marion Blue Racers. The Blue Racers are based out of Marion, OH and owned by former Ohio State University and NFL alum Lamonte Coleman.
Upon rejoining the league, Coleman released a statement saying, "I would like to thank the owners of the Continental Indoor Football League for allowing me to come back home. Once I heard their vision and mission for the new and improved league, hammering out the details was seamless. My sponsors will be thrilled to know that the CIFL is celebrating their eight consecutive year."
Coleman knows the indoor football scene very well as he played for multiple indoor football teams. That came after a stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers which included a trip to Super Bowl XXX. Coleman has shown exceptional leadership in the Blue Racer organization, even being called a visionary by co-workers.
"On behalf of Indoor Football Incorporated, the CIFL looks forward to a prosperous 2013 season and beyond with the Marion Blue Racers being an intricate part of our future," said co-owner Robert Licht. "Lamonte Coleman and his organization are a direct reflection of the type of credible, competitive teams we look to build the CIFL legacy with."
The Blue Racers will begin their third consecutive season and will play host to opponents at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum beginning this February.
