Reading, PA - May 14, 2007 - The Reading Railers Owner and General Manager Kay Magee announced today that the team has changed its affiliation from the American Basketball Association (ABA) to the new Premier Basketball League (PBL). (www.PBLpro.com).
The Reading Railers is one of the seven PBL charter teams that will play a minimum of 24 regular season games in the inaugural 2007-2008 season. More teams are expected to join the PBL in the coming weeks.
Magee attributed the move to the PBL's strong business model and vision that promise to deliver professional basketball, a management team with a successful track record and a commitment to community involvement. "This move was a clear choice that will benefit the fans, sponsors and the team," said Magee. "Besides presenting the entertainment of high-level basketball at reasonable ticket prices for families, PBL games will feature on-court involvement for fans and direct interaction with children." In addition, the league requires each PBL franchise to commit its players to a minimum number of hours of community involvement each year.
Kay Magee is the daughter of legendary Philadelphia University coach Herb Magee, who recently became the "winningest" NCAA Division II basketball coach of all time. She is currently the Director of Basketball Operations at Philadelphia University and assists her father with camps, clinics, coaching and instructional basketball videos.

Having members like Reading will only strengthen our league and, more importantly, provide basketball entertainment to the City of Reading and surrounding areas."
Rossi will join Kay and Herb Magee and The Honorable Thomas M. McMahon, Mayor of the City of Reading, at a complimentary drop-in continental breakfast will be held Thursday, May 17 at Ocean Blue Bar and Grille for those interested in corporate or individual sponsorship opportunities. Individuals can drop in any time between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The restaurant is located adjacent to the Sovereign Center.
The Premier Basketball League was founded in 2007 to offer professional minor-league basketball at an affordable price to a marketplace of families. The combination of community-involved professional franchises with top-quality young players interacting with the fans enables fans to become invested in the teams on a personal level.
