Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
The Coastal Bend Aviators scored four runs in the ninth inning and one run in the tenth to hand the Shreveport Sports their fourth consecutive loss 7-6.
The Sports had a 6-2 lead going into the ninth when Coastal Bend tied the game with four runs, highlighted by the three-run home run by the Aviators Jack Joffrion, his second of the season. The home run came off Sports relief pitcher Carl Makowsky, who gave up his first runs of the season in four outings.
Shreveport had taken a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning on a two run home run by Chad Gambill, his first of the year. The Sports added single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings and looked to be on their way of breaking the three-game losing streak.
Coastal Bend got the game winner in the tenth on an RBI single by Edwin Maldonado that scored Mike Guerrero from second base. The game winning hit came off Shreveport loser Erik Wikstrom (0-2). James Lira (2-0) picked up the win for Coastal Bend.
Shreveport and Coastal Bend will meet Saturday in game two of the three game series at Fair Grounds Field. Game time will be 7:05 pm.
