
Road Woes Continue for Mahoning Valley

Milwaukee, WI. -Mahoning Valley rallied from a 28-7 second quarter deficit to tie the game at 34 all before Milwaukee eventually regained control and secured a 58-47 win. The Iron offense started hot in both the first and third quarters scoring 21 and 20 points respectively. The Milwaukee defense did their part, holding Mahoning Valley scoreless in the final quarter. With the loss, the Thunder has now dropped 17 straight away from home and nine straight overall.
Leading the charge for Milwaukee was Quarterback Todd Hammel who threw for 337 yards and seven touchdowns without turning the ball over. Antoine Burns was Hammel's main target hauling in eight receptions for 112 yards, three touchdowns and another score coming by way of the ground. Receiver Bryan Pray contributed seven catches good for 79 yards and one score for the Iron.
Mahoning Valley received a spark from Receiver Quorey Payne who returned a kickoff and missed field goal each 50 yards for scores. Payne also added a receiving touchdown. Thunder Quarterback Davon Vinson delivered a solid game completing 20 of 34 passes for 222 yards with five touchdowns and one interception. C.J. Brewer played the role of go-to receiver for Mahoning Valley. Brewer caught a season-high 12 passes totaling 107 yards and three touchdowns.
The Thunder is back on the road next weekend, battling Albany for the third and final time this year. Kickoff between Mahoning Valley and the Firebirds is slated for 8:00 p.m. Saturday, June 13th from the Times Union Center.
