
Peoria Pirates make Arena Cup

Lafayette, LA â The Peoria Pirates, the sister franchise of the yet-to-be-named Lafayette af2 franchise, will play in the Arena Cup 2002 title game this Friday.
The Pirates plowed through Birmingham 79-33 Saturday night to make it to the Arena Cup, where they will play at home against the Florida Firecats on Friday at 7:35 p.m. (ct). Offensively-explosive Peoria scored on all 12 of its possessions in beating a team that featured former Washington Redskins center Ozell Powell.
ArenaCup 2002 will be telecast live nationwide this Friday on The Vision Channel (Channel 223 on DISH Network).
Both Peoria and the Lafayette franchise are owned by Orlando Predators Entertainment, which will also have a team in Green Bay, Wisc., starting next season. The Lafayette team will also begin play in the spring of 2003.
