Toronto, ON - We're past the quarter mark of the 2017-18 Ontario Hockey League regular season schedule and a 20-game weekend is upon us as teams around the league remember those who served and continue to serve our country.

Here's a look at what's happening around the league this week.

OHL TALENT HELPS LEAD RUSSIA TO VICTORY IN OWEN SOUND:

Dmitri Samorukov (Guelph Storm), Dmitry Sokolov (Sudbury Wolves) and Alexey Lipanov (Barrie Colts) all had points as Russia defeated Team OHL 5-2 in Game 3 of the CIBC Canada Russia Series in Owen Sound. Taylor Raddysh (Erie Otters) and Adam Mascherin (Kitchener Rangers) scored for Team OHL as they outshot Russia 37-18. Read more

SEMI-FINALS SET AT 2017 WORLD UNDER-17 HOCKEY CHALLENGE:

The Semi-Finals are set at the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, BC. Team Canada White and Team Canada Red picked up wins in Quarterfinal play on Thursday, advancing to Friday's Semi-Final round. Canada White will square off against the United States while Canada Red faces the Czech Republic. Canada Red's Ryan Suzuki (Barrie Colts) currently leads all OHL players in tournament scoring with five points (2-3-5) while Canada Red netminder Luke Cavallin (Flint Firebirds) is among the tournament leaders with a 2.67 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. 4TH ANNUAL OHL/HPHL BATTLE OF THE BORDER UNDERWAY IN WINDSOR:

The Ontario Hockey League dropped the puck today at the fourth annual 'Battle of the Border' Showcase in partnership with the High Performance Hockey League. This year's event takes place November 10-12 at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ont., home of the OHL's Windsor Spitfires and features a record 24 teams including both an under-16 and under-18 component with organizations from across Ontario, Detroit, and Illinois. The 36-game showcase played before scouts and fans highlights talent eligible for the 2018 OHL Priority Selection and Under-18 Priority Selection. Full details

67's TO HOST GATINEAU IN HISTORIC OUTDOOR GAME:

The Ottawa 67's announced Wednesday that they'll host an outdoor regular season game against the Gatineau Olympiques in The Stadium at TD Place on December 17th at 3:00pm. Canadian Hockey League Vice President Gilles Courteau made the announcement in the stadium accompanied by representatives from the 67's, the Olympiques and the City of Ottawa. The outdoor game on December 17th will be the first of its kind played in Ontario. Two other outdoor games involving OHL teams were played in Detroit, Michigan in 2013 involving the Windsor Spitfires vs. Saginaw Spirit and the London Knights vs. the Plymouth Whalers. Read more

67's RETIRE BRIAN CAMPBELL'S #44:

The Ottawa 67's retired former defenceman Brian Campbell's jersey prior to Friday night's game against Barrie, hoisting his #44 to the rafters alongside other junior hockey royalty. Campbell, who played 1,082 NHL games after four years with the 67's from 1995 to 1999, joins Denis Potvin (7), Doug Wilson (7), Peter Lee (14) and Bobby Smith (15) as players to have their numbers immortalized inside the former Civic Centre. STING AND GREYHOUNDS IN CHL TOP 10 RANKINGS:

The Sarnia Sting remained the top ranked team in the CHL this week while the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds rose one spot to fifth. The Barrie Colts remained an honourable mention team for the fourth straight week. Full Rankings

STEELHEADS' ALBERT MICHNAC NAMED OHL 'ON THE RUN' PLAYER OF THE WEEK AND CHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

Albert Michnac of the Mississauga Steelheads is the OHL 'On the Run' Player of the Week after recording eight goals in three games. Michnac recorded a trio of multi-goal performances for the surging Steelheads contributing to nearly half of the team's total offensive output and earning first star honours in three straight contests. WAWANESA OHL PLAYS OF THE WEEK:

The 7th edition of the Wawanesa OHL Plays of the Week for the 2017-18 season feature another collection of the league's Top-5 goals scored in the week ending November 5. This week's highlights include Ivan Lodnia of the Erie Otters with a nice spin move down low, Nathan Dunkley of the Kingston Frontenacs who starts and finishes a nice passing play, penalty shot prowess by Jonathan Ang of the Peterborough Petes, and a pair of breakaway goals by Nico Gross of the Oshawa Generals and an overtime winner by Dmitry Sokolov of the Sudbury Wolves. NOVEMBER BRINGS COOL WAVE OF SAVES ON JANES SAVES OF THE WEEK:

November brings a cool wave of #JanesSaves featuring the best from across the OHL. This week features 10 different goaltenders including Julian Sime of the North Bay Battalion, Jake McGrath of the Sudbury Wolves, Justin Fazio of the Sarnia Sting, Michael DiPietro of the Windsor Spitfires, Evan Cormier of the Saginaw Spirit, Luke Richardson of the Kitchener Rangers, Jeremy Helvig of the Kingston Frontenacs, Garrett Forrest of the Flint Firebirds, Kaden Fulcher of the Hamilton Bulldogs, and Kyle Keyser of the Oshawa Generals. 11 PLAYERS INCLUDED IN OHL MILESTONE MOMENTS THIS WEEK:

A total of 11 players were featured on OHL Milestone Moments this past week. Hamilton Bulldogs netminder Nick Donofrio recorded his first OHL shutout while 12 players scored their first career goal. 2017 OHL Priority Selection choice Cole MacKay (Sault Ste. STEELHEADS' TIPPETT RETURNS FROM NHL:

The Florida Panthers announced Monday that they've returned 2017 first round NHL Draft selection Owen Tippett to the Mississauga Steelheads. The 18-year-old Peterborough, Ont. native skated in seven NHL contests with the Panthers this season, recording one goal and 17 shots on goal. He made his NHL debut on October 17th in Philadelphia and scored his first career NHL goal on October 26th against the Anaheim Ducks. Read more

Rangers, David Clarkson host DREAM; raise nearly $60,000 for Clarky's Kids: The Kitchener Rangers, alongside alumnus David Clarkson, hosted DREAM; an event to celebrate the accomplishments of Clarky's Kids, raising over $60,000 for the charity. The event was headlined by a performance by JUNO Award winning singer-songwriter Johnny Reid. Read more

Rangers remember Vimy Ridge on Friday: The 2017 Kitchener Rangers Remembrance Day Jersey Auction will be held on Friday night when they host the Windsor Spitfires. This marks the 13th year that the Rangers will wear a commemorative jersey. This season's Commemorative Remembrance Day Jersey Crest is inspired by the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. Storm hold Veterans Week Game on Friday: The Guelph Storm has unveiled plans for the team's annual Veterans Week game on Friday night at home to North Bay. The Storm will be wearing one-of-a-kind jerseys to commemorate Canadian veterans, with inspiration from the Battle of Vimy Ridge. Knights ask fans to wear red on Friday: The London Knights will salute our veterans on Friday at home to the Flint Firebirds. Fans are asked to wear read and take part in a special pre-game ceremony at Budweiser Gardens.

Attack partner with Owen Sound Legion on Saturday: The Owen Sound Attack has partnered with the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 6 in Owen Sound to present Military Appreciation Night on Saturday at home to the Sudbury Wolves. Highlighting the night are special edition camouflage jerseys that the team will wear and then auction off on CHL Auctions over the course of the season with all proceeds going to support various initiatives by the Owen Sound chapter of the Royal Canadian Legion. Firebirds salute the troops, team poster giveaway on Saturday: The Flint Firebirds host their third annual Military Appreciation Game on Saturday at the Dort Federal Event Center. Complimentary Silver Level tickets are available for all veterans and active duty military personnel. The first 2,500 fans through the door will also receive a free official team calendar poster. Troops to go airborne Sunday: The North Bay Battalion, in partnership with 22 Wing North Bay, is set to play a Military Appreciation game at 2:00pm Sunday when the Niagara IceDogs come to town. The Battalion will wear special 'Canada 150' sweaters, featuring the CF-18 demonstration jet. The sweaters are to be sold in a silent auction in the north concourse of Memorial Gardens, with all proceeds going to the Military Family Resource Centre at Canadian Forces Base North Bay. Generals team up with Wounded Warriors Canada on Sunday: The Oshawa Generals have unveiled their commemorative jerseys in partnership with Wounded Warriors Canada for their Remembrance Day Game on Sunday night at home to Ottawa. The Generals will don camouflage jerseys for the evening. Following the game, the jerseys will be up for auction on the Generals eBay page, with all proceeds of the jersey sales going to Wounded Warriors Canada. With the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge in 2017, the battle was the inspiration behind the commemorative jersey to honour and remember the sacrifices that were made by Canadian soldiers during its battle and all the service men and women who continue to serve for our country. Frontenacs' Murray joins KFL&A Alzheimer Society to raise awareness: Known more for his work on the Kingston Frontenacs' blue line, Liam Murray is taking on a new role off the ice as an ambassador for the Alzheimer Society of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington. Fronts and Downie Wenjack Fund bring reconciliation conversation to the hockey rink: Visitors to the Rogers K-Rock Centre will now see a new purple rink board at the next Kingston Frontenacs game. Thanks to a new partnership with the Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Fund, the Kingston Frontenacs, Rogers K-Rock Centre, and Rinkboards Inc. hockey fans might be inspired to start talking about reconciliation during intermission or after the game. ALUMNI NOTES:

Duchene on the move to Ottawa: Brampton Battalion graduate Matt Duchene was dealt to the Ottawa Senators in a three-team blockbuster announced Sunday. The Colorado Avalanche dealt Duchene to Ottawa while receiving goaltender Andrew Hammond and a package of prospects in return. The Sens sent centreman Kyle Turris to Nashville in the trade as well. The 26-year-old Duchene has 10 points in 14 games with Colorado in this, his ninth NHL season. He played two seasons in Brampton from 2007-09, reaching the OHL Championship Series with the Troops in 2009. He finished his OHL career with 129 points over 121 regular season games.

Dotchin scores first NHL goal: Barrie Colts graduate Jake Dotchin scored his first career NHL goal on Wednesday, stepping into a slapshot that ripped past San Jose Sharks goaltender Martin Jones. A 23-year-old defenceman for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Dotchin has played in 50 NHL contests following three seasons in the American Hockey League. The Cambridge, Ont. native played three OHL seasons with Owen Sound and Barrie from 2011-14, reaching the OHL Championship Series with the Colts in 2013.

Domi records 100th point: London Knights graduate Max Domi recorded his 100th career NHL point last week. The 22-year-old has 10 points in 17 games with the Arizona Coyotes this season. The former Knights captain is in his third NHL season after being Arizona's first round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft. Domi won an OHL championship with the Knights in 2012 and appeared in three consecutive Mastercard Memorial Cup tournaments from 2012-14. He recorded 331 points over his 244-game OHL career in London.

Marchment named AHL Player of the Week: Mississauga Steelheads graduate Mason Marchment of the Toronto Marlies is the AHL Player of the Week after recording one goal and six assists in three games last week. A second-year pro from Uxbridge, Ont., Marchment has recorded five goals and six assists for 11 points in nine games for the Marlies this season. Marchment played two OHL seasons between Erie, Hamilton and Mississauga from 2014-16, recording 77 points over 115 games.

Blackwood and Appleby duelling in the crease: The Binghamton Devils have a good problem on their hands with two capable netminders in OHL graduates Mackenzie Blackwood (Barrie Colts) and Ken Appleby (Oshawa Generals) in their lineup. TheAHL.com took a closer look at Binghamton's power tandem in the crease.

Harper leads USPORTS Men's Hockey in scoring: Niagara IceDogs graduate Stephen Harper of Acadia University leads the USPORTS Men's Hockey circuit in scoring. The 22-year-old has seven goals, 17 assists and 24 points over 11 games this season, helping Acadia get off to a 7-3-1 start. Harper played five OHL seasons with Erie, Belleville, Hamilton and Niagara from 2011-16, recording 228 points over 324 career regular season games.

The Windsor Spitfires and Kitchener Rangers clash in a Western Conference weekend home-and-home battle starting Friday in Kitchener.

The Midwest Division leading Rangers enter play on a three-game winning streak behind recent strong play from goaltender Luke Richardson. Not one of the league's high scoring teams thus far, the Rangers come off victories over North Bay, Erie and Guelph last weekend.

The defending Mastercard Memorial Cup champion Spitfires have been carried offensively by veteran captain Aaron Luchuk who has recorded four points or more three times in the last month. Vancouver Canucks prospect Michael DiPietro leads OHL goaltenders with a .930 save percentage this season. Logan Brown has 11 points (5-6-11) over six games since returning from the Ottawa Senators.

Saginaw Spirit (6-8-2-0) at Mississauga Steelheads (7-9-0-1)

Friday November 10th at Mississauga

Owen Tippett returns to the Mississauga Steelheads on Friday after suiting up in seven games with the NHL's Florida Panthers this season. Tippett will represent the OHL on Thursday in Owen Sound in Game 3 of the CIBC Canada Russia Series.

After a 1-8-0-0 start, CHL Player of the Week Albert Michnac and the Steelheads have won five of their last six and look to continue their winning ways on Friday against Saginaw. The Spirit have experienced a little turnaround of their own, going 3-0 with wins over Flint, London and North Bay last weekend. Rookie centreman Blade Jenkins has six goals over his last four games while sophomore forward Damien Giroux has points in eight of his last nine.
