Saint John Riptide News Release

(Quebec): The Manchester Millrats unleashed a punishing defense on the Quebec Kebs, downing them 82-62 in the first game of a preseason doubleheader.

The Millrats defense forced 28 turnovers and held the Kebs to just 34% shooting from the field. Manchester's defense led to transition offense and easy baskets repeatedly.

Point guard Al Stewart initiated the pressure defense, coming up with 7 steals while PJ Young added 5. Quebec star Charles Fortier was held to just 1-7 shooting from the floor.

PJ Young scored 20 points for Manchester, while Alex Owumi chipped in 16. Larry House and Jean-Philippe Morin scored 14 apiece for the Kebs.

The two teams play again on Saturday evening at 7:30 at the Juvenat Notre Dame at Saint Romuald. Saturday's game is Game 1 of the Champlain Cup Series.

The Kebs return the favor to the Millrats when they visit New Hampshire on December 16th at 7:00 pm at NH Tech in Concord.
