Knights Add Standout Ironmen From 2009; Oswald And Owens

November 3, 2009 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA)
Ogden Knights News Release

The Ogden Knights Professional Indoor Football team announced the re-signing of WR/DB James Owens and RB/LB Justin Oswald.

James Owens is the type of player to lead by example and showed that by playing multiple positions throughout the year.

Offensively, Owens ranked in the top three among Knights' players in five categories: 2nd in all-purpose yards (551), receptions (44), kick returns (7), and kick return yards (94); while 3rd in receiving yards (421). In addition to those stats, he accumulated three touchdowns; two receiving and one rushing

Defensively, the talented cornerback showed poise, solid positioning and a knack for finding the ball carrier. Ranking 3rd on the team in total tackle with 34.0 (23 solo; 22 asst.), Owens added six pass break-ups, two fumble recoveries, one interception and a tackle-for-loss.

If Owens is the person to find the seams, open space and avoids defensive backs to make the big plays, Justin Oswald complements the team chemistry. "I'd rather run down hill and through people, than around them," said Oswald during his signing.

Oswald did just that for the Knights as he lead the team in every rushing category: Attempts (102), yards (272), touchdowns (10) and longest rush (34-yards). He also managed to finish 8th in the league in rushing yards per game with 22.7.

On the defensive side of the ball, Oswald tallied 13.0 total tackles (12 solo; 2 asst.), one sack and one fumble recovery.

Numbers speak for themselves at the end of each season, and both of these player's statistics did the talking for them. With these players back in Ogden, their talent will help contribute to the Knights' run towards the 2010 AIFA Championship.
