ISU Record Holders Barnett, Thompson Sign With Knights

December 18, 2009 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA)
Ogden Knights News Release

The Ogden Knights Professional Indoor Football team announced the signing of two Idaho State University all-time record holders; RB Josh Barnett and WR Eddie Thompson to the 2010 roster.

Josh Barnett's four seasons (2004-2007) at ISU were nothing short of greatness. He holds four all-time records and among the Top-10 in five other categories for the Bengals: Carries All-Time 677 (1st), Rushing Yards All-Time 3,414 (1st), 100-Yard Games All-time 15 (1st), Back-to-Back 1,000-Yard Seasons (only Bengal to do so), Carries Single Season 203 (3rd) and 200 (4th), Rushing Yards Single Season 1,117 (3rd) and 1,022 (6th), and Rushing Touchdowns All-Time (8th).

Barnett was not just a runner, but showed his athleticism by adding 62 receptions for 500-yards and one touchdown. These receiving yards helped him climb up the list to 7th All-Time in All-Purpose Yards per game (97.8).

One year younger (2005-2008), Eddie Thompson could have easily taken a back seat in the ISU offense, but instead left his mark the same way Barnett did. Thompson grabbed two career records and five Top-10 rankings himself: Receptions All-time 219 (1st), Receptions Single Game 17 (1st), Receptions Single Season 83 (2nd) and 70 (4th), Receiving Yards All-Time 2,393 (3rd), Receiving Yards Single Game 174 (9th).

Like his counterpart, Thompson was not just a single threat kind of player. He carried the ball out of the backfield 44 times for 270-yards and one touchdown and also returned eight punts for 68-yards.

Career records do not come easily on any college leave. They take dedication, hard work and a constant drive to never lift that foot off the gas. These two players will continue that drive in their professional careers, and with that, there is no telling where their ride will end.
