JONES, JACKSON & HOLMES TABBED IPFL PLAYERS OF WEEK
IPFL Press Release
Omaha running back Calvin Jones (6-1, 210), Tennessee defensive back Roland Jackson (6-0, 190) and Tennessee kick returner/ defensive back Clayton Holmes (5-11, 190) have been selected as the Indoor Professional Football League (IPFL) players of the week.
Jones racked up 161 all purpose yards and four touchdowns in Omaha's 55-47 road win over St. Louis. On the ground he had 10 carries for 70 yards and three touchdowns, the later of which was a one-yard score that clinched the victory with 3:23 remaining. In addition to averaging 7.0 yards per carry, Jones also had three receptions for 25 yards and returned two kickoffs for 66 yards and a touchdown. On the final play of the first half, Jones scored on his IPFL career-record sixth kickoff return for a touchdown. The distance, which covered 57 yards, also equaled Jones' record for the longest field goal return in league history - a mark he previously shared with two other players.
Scores by Jackson and Holmes proved to be the difference in Tennessee's 39-26 win over Trenton. On the game's opening possession, Jackson intercepted a Trenton Pass and returned it 24 yards for a touchdown. Later in the second quarter, Holmes returned a kickoff 51 yards for a touchdown to give the ThunderCats a commanding 33-12 lead. For the game Jackson had three tackles (one unassisted and two assisted), including one for a loss, and an interception, while Holmes had three tackles (two unassisted and one assisted) and two returns for 54 yards.
