Georgia Firebirds News Release

ALBANY, GA - The Georgia Firebirds today announced its inaugural season of football has unexpectedly come to an early end.

The Firebirds had to forfeit its last regular season game, because of that, Georgia will miss the playoffs as its record dropped to 3-5 overall.

"We are deeply disappointed on how the season ended for us," said General Manager Terrance Fowler. "I hate to lose more than I love to win, I don't like missing the playoffs and everyone in our organization feels the same way. With that said, we will be back next season bigger and better."

Georgia was initially the No. 3 seed in Southern Division and scheduled to open the playoffs at Florida on June 4th. Instead, The Myrtle Beach Freedom will move up to the No. 3 seed, and The New Mexico Stars will be the fourth seed.

The southern division first round playoff seeding are as follows: The Columbus Lions vs the New Mexico Stars, June 4th at the Columbus Civic Center in Columbus, Georgia and the Florida Tarpons vs Myrtle Beach Freedom, June 6th at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida.
