ALBANY - The Georgia Firebirds announced Tuesday they have hired Anthony Donald (A.D.) Laster, Sr. and Antwone Savage as assistant coaches on head coach David (DJ) Daniels' staff.

"I am pleased to add A.D. (Laster) and (Antwone) Savage to our coaching staff," said Daniels. "They are established winners at the collegiate and professional level, and bring valuable experience and a passion for the game to our team.

"We have a group that will challenge our players daily to improve and compete."

Laster joins the Firebirds as the assistant head coach and chaplain.

He is a retired N.F.L. Player, (Super Bowl Player XVII & XVIII of the Washington Redskins) and finished his career with the Detroit Lions.

Laster was inducted into Albany Georgia Hall of Fame 2004. He also managed players pro careers after retirement for ten plus years, and coached in several semi-pro football leagues. Laster is a family man and Ordained Minister.

Savage will be the Firebirds offensive assistant.

He stared at Westover High School (Albany, Ga) and had a stellar collegiate career at the University of Oklahoma where he won a national championship and is second all-time in catches for a wide receiver.

Savage also spent several years on the professional level winning an Arena Cup with the Spokane Shock and two league championships with the Albany Panthers.

Most recently he is coaching with the Americus/ Sumter Panthers and coached wide receivers in the 2015 Georgia/ Florida All-Star Football game.
