Alabama Outlawz News Release
The Alabama Outlawz is coming off their first win at the Birmingham Crossplex-Bill Harris Arena. Outlawz cruised to a 82-8 win over the Savannah Steam last Friday at Bill Harris Arena. This road game will be a much bigger test as the Outlawz will take their 2-1 record on the road to take on the Florida Marine Raiders. The Raiders lost last week to the St. Louis Attack on the road 59-42 and have identical records at 2-1 as well. Both teams are fighting for second place.
Offensive Coordinator Mike Bonner hopes to duplicate the strong performance against the Raiders. I told the guys during practice "if we protect the ball we have a good chance of winning the game and I don't care if my mother has on a Raider jersey tell her she can't have the ball." Quarterback Garrett Sutphen and company have accepted that challenge.
Defensively, going into last week's game the Outlawz were hit with the injury bug but guys stepped up and the defense didn't miss a beat creating the plays they needed to force several turnover on downs. Owner and Defensive Coordinator Lee Ellison have been preaching to the defense to be more physical and don't give up the big plays.
The Alabama Outlawz game will be aired via webcast Southland Sports TV on www.bamaoutlawz.com Saturday, April 19th 7pm EST from the Lakeland Center in Lakeland, FL. Alabama Outlawz will return to the Birmingham Crossplex-Bill Harris Arena April 25th at 7pm to face Chattahoochee Vipers where players and coaches will be wearing pink accessories to show support to Breast Cancer Awareness. Lee Ellison is asking everyone to support the "Pink Out" by wearing a pink t-shirts or something pink.
