
AAHL Accepts Troy, Ohio Membership

Troy, Ohio - The All American Hockey League (AAHL) announces today that the league's board of governors have accepted the application for an expansion team in Troy, Ohio to begin play in the 2010-2011 All American Hockey League season.
The new Troy, Ohio member who are owned and operated by Troy Bruins Hockey LLC will take the nickname "Bruins" and will play out of the 3,782-seat Hobart Arena in Troy.
The Troy Bruins are a historic team dating back to 1951 when the Bruins played eight seasons in the International Hockey League.
Troy's General Manager Rick Szabo brought the Troy Bruins back to Hobart arena in 2009 as a member club in the Northern Junior Hockey League (NJHL) which saw the team finish second with a 30-12-0-1 record.
"We are very excited to not only have a first class organization join our league but a first class facility such as Hobart Arena" stated AAHL Commissioner Rod Davidson.
"With the team already established in the community and already performing at a professional level, we believe they have all the pieces in place to be successful not only on the ice but off."
The Troy Bruins will join the league as the sixth franchise and second Ohio based team along with the Queen City Storm.
"We feel this is a great opportunity for our organization" said General Manager Rick Szabo. "We were very fortunate last year to have a great fan base, amazing sponsors and a fantastic facility to make our season a success."
"With the move to the pro ranks, we (Troy Bruins) will still perform with the mindset of advancement of our players to higher levels such as the CHL and ECHL" added Szabo.
The Troy Bruins is a family operation as Rick Szabo performs the General Manager position his son JT, wife Gaye and Daughter Chelsea hold many position within the organization.
"Our family is really excited to join the AAHL and really build on what we established last season in terms of our fan base and corporate sponsors. We believe that our market and the arena are perfect fits for the single "A" professional model which will provide a great product and value to our loyal fans" stated Troy Bruins Executive Vice President JT Szabo.
Hobart Arena was opened in 1950 and is owned and operated by the City of Troy. The arena held many events for professional league such as the International Hockey League, ECHL and All-American Hockey League.
