Charlotte Independence News Release
Charlotte (N.C.) - The Charlotte Independence announced today that defender Dennis Castillo has been loaned from Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer (MLS).
Per the Right of Recall incorporated in the loan agreement, the Rapids retain the right to recall Castillo at any point during the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines.
"Dennis is a promising player who should benefit from consistent playing time with the Independence," said Sporting Director Pádraig Smith. "We have plenty of depth at the outside back position, and we will keep a close eye on him as he continues his professional development under Charlotte's coaching staff."
Castillo appeared in two games for the Independence last season, recording one assist. In his first season with the Rapids, Castillo appeared in four contests, including his first professional start at LA Galaxy on July 22. A four-year starter for Virginia Commonwealth University, Castillo was drafted by Colorado in the second round (37th overall) of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.
The Independence kickoff their USL campaign this Saturday, April 1 against the Charleston Battery at Transamerica Field on the campus of UNC Charlotte. Tickets are on sale now. For more information please visit charlotteindependence.com .
