Greenville Drive News Release

Asheville, NC - The hitter's haven in Asheville was home to a good, old-fashioned pitcher's duel on Saturday night, and the Asheville Tourists came out on top with a 2-1 victory over the Greenville Drive in the series opener.

All of Saturday's offense came in the second inning. Derek Miller hit a one-out double for the Drive (12-16, 49-48), and Luis Alexander Basabe stayed hot by singling Miller home to make the score 1-0. Basabe extended his hitting streak to 10 games with the hit, and he went 2-4 on the night.

The Tourists (14-14, 48-49) countered with two runs of their own in the bottom half off Daniel Gonzalez (1-3). Max George started the rally with a two-out double, and Mylz Jones followed with a double of his own to tie the game. A third consecutive double, this one by Terry McClure, put the Tourists ahead for good.

Devin Burke (2-3) allowed just one run over six innings to get the win for Asheville, and Alexander Guillen recorded his seventh save with a scoreless ninth.

Gonzalez took the loss in his return to the Drive roster despite allowing just the two runs over five innings with three strikeouts.

Kyri Washington joined Basabe with two hits in the game for Greenville.

The teams continue their series on Sunday afternoon in Asheville at 2:05 PM. Left-hander Enmanuel De Jesus (0-1, 8.00) takes the ball for the Drive, and the Tourists will send right-hander Drasen Johnson (4-0, 3.38) to the mound.
