Shuckers Stunt BayBears' Playoff Hopes with 8-1 Win

BILOXI, MS - Posting five runs in the first two innings, the Biloxi Shuckers (31-28, 74-53) dropped the Mobile BayBears (31-27, 65-62) by a final of 8-1 Thursday night at MGM Park. With the loss, Mobile falls to two games out of first place in the Southern League South Division Standings.

Biloxi jumped on BayBears starting RHP Gabriel Arias (4-2) early, getting RBI double's from both Nathan Orf and Tyrone Taylor to take a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Victor Roach capped off the frame with a RBI base hit to push the Shuckers lead to 3-0 at the end of one.

In the second inning, Orlando Arcia drove in another run with a RBI double then came into score him self with a RBI base knock from Josh Fellhauer. After just two innings the BayBears found themselves down by five.

Leading 5-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Biloxi put the game on ice by posting three more runs in the inning to lead Mobile 8-1.

The BayBears lone run came courtesy of a solo blast from Evan Marzilli in the top of the sixth inning but the BayBears pitching staff was hit hard for eight runs on 11 hits. Arias suffered just his second loss after allowing five of the runs on eight hits in five innings of work.

The BayBears return home Friday, August 28 to open up their final five home games of the 2015 regular season against the Montgomery Biscuits. Friday night is also "Friday Night Fireworks" at Hank Aaron stadium. For a shortcut to purchase your tickets to Friday's game, click HERE.
