Sharks Add Veteran Michael Lindsey

JACKSONVILLE - In advance of Saturday's playoff matchup against the Orlando Predators, the Jacksonville Sharks announced Thursday that wide receiver Michael Lindsey has been assigned to the Jacksonville roster. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 28-year-old Lindsey (6'2", 200) heads to Jacksonville after spending the first four years of his AFL career with the Tampa Bay Storm. Most recently, Lindsey caught 39 passes for 508 yards and five touchdowns during the 2014 season, also returning 94 kickoffs for 1,665 yards. Lindsey contributed on defense and special teams as well, totaling 17.5 tackles, three forced fumbles, a pass breakup and an interception.

Throughout his AFL career, Lindsey has filled a versatile role. In each of his four previous seasons, he has totaled at least 364 receiving yards, 1,092 kickoff return yards and six tackles. He set career highs with 73 receptions for 820 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2013, and brought back three kickoffs for scores as a rookie in 2011. Over the course of his time in the AFL, Lindsey has totaled 196 receptions for 2,132 yards and 27 scores while also rushing for five touchdowns. On special teams, he has racked up 6,039 yards and five touchdowns on 326 kickoff returns, an average of 18.5 yards per runback.

Prior to the start of his professional career, Lindsey attended Northwest Mississippi Community College, where he was named to the 2009 NJCAA All-America First Team. Lindsey is a native of St. Petersburg, Florida.

The Sharks also announced Thursday that the team has activated offensive lineman Ray McNeil from inactive reserve, and placed wide receiver Johnathan Haggerty and defensive lineman Martin Wright on inactive reserve. Following the transactions, the Jacksonville roster remains at the League maximum of 24 active players.
