MORRISTOWN, NJ (August 25, 2014) - Sky Blue FC forward Nadia Nadim was voted the Army National Guard Player of the Month by the media for the month of August of the 2014 NWSL season.

Nadim, 26, won the award having played just two of her club's four games during the month - scoring five goals and adding an assist to have a hand in every one of Sky Blue FC's six goals in her two appearances.

Despite playing in just six games (five starts) all season, the Afghanistan-born Denmark international nearly cracked the NWSL's Top 10 in scoring with seven goals to go along with three assists while on loan from Danish club Fortuna Hjørring.

Nadim recorded the third hat trick of the 2014 season with her three-goal performance August 9 at BBVA Compass Stadium with goals in the 39th and 74th minutes as well as second-half stoppage time against the Houston Dash.

She followed up that effort with a two-goal, one-assist game - including the game-winning goal in the 89th minute - in a 3-2 victory August 13 over the Western New York Flash.

It is the second time an international player has been voted Player of the Month this year. Seattle Reign FC midfielder and Scotland international Kim Little won the award three times (April, May, July). FC Kansas City goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart, who was named Player of the Month for June, is the only player other than Nadim and Little to claim the honor this season.

The Army National Guard Player of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by a selection of journalists that cover the league on a consistent basis.
