April 14, 2014 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Jacksonville Sharks News Release

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced Monday that the team has executed a trade with the San Antonio Talons. The deal brings wide receiver Jomo Wilson to Jacksonville in exchange for future considerations.

The 30-year-old Wilson (6'0", 205) is in the midst of his fifth season in the Arena Football League. He began his AFL career with the Sharks, quickly becoming an integral part of Jacksonville's receiving corps when the franchise joined the league in 2010. As a rookie, Wilson finished as the Sharks' second leading receiver, totaling 81 receptions for 964 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Wilson enjoyed a career year in 2011 as a key cog in Jacksonville's ArenaBowl winning squad. In his second season with the team, Wilson racked up team-high totals of 131 catches for 1,737 yards and 44 touchdowns, and still holds the single-season franchise records in the latter two categories. During Jacksonville's three-game run to the ArenaBowl title, Wilson led the Sharks with 22 receptions for 278 yards.

Since he last suited up in a Shark uniform, Wilson spent two-plus seasons with the San Antonio Talons. In 2012, Wilson racked up 83 receptions for team-leading totals of 1,284 yards and 36 touchdowns despite playing in just 13 of the Talons' 18 games. Las season, Wilson led San Antonio in every major receiving category, recording 1,206 yards and 24 touchdowns on his 98 receptions.

Prior to the trade, Wilson had seen action in four of the Talons' first five games of the 2014 season, catching 19 passes for 247 yards and five touchdowns. Those totals include San Antonio's Week 3 trip to Sea Best Field, during which Wilson totaled three receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown against his former team.

A native of Peoria, Illinois, Wilson finished his collegiate career at Eastern Oregon.

In another Monday transaction, the Sharks announced that offensive lineman Manny Akah has been activated from Refused to Report. The 35-year-old Akah (6'3", 335) was originally claimed by Jacksonville on March 5.

In addition, the Sharks announced that wide receiver Mardy Gilyard has been placed on league suspension, while wide receiver Jeron Harvey has been placed on inactive reserve and defensive lineman Thomas Mulabah has been placed on reassignment.
