NYNJ Comets Bounce Back to Defeat the Chicago Bandits 7-5

LITTLE FALLS, New Jersey - The NY/NJ Comets bounced back to defeat the Chicago Bandits 7-5, after being swept in Saturday night's doubleheader. Seven of nine hitters in the Comets lineup put base hits together to reach their second victory improving their record to 2-4. By doing so, the Comets knocked the Chicago Bandits out of a first place tie with the USSSA Florida Pride.
Olivia Galati started in the circle for the Comets Saturday night and got the win on her birthday. Galati allowed 5 hits and struck out 3.The Comets led the Bandits 4-1 throughout 4 innings, facing both Andi Williamson and Mel Dumezich for the Bandits.
The Bandits rallied in the top of the 5th scoring 4 runs putting them in the lead 5-4 over the Comets. Kimi Pohlman scored Danielle Zymkowitz on a base hit. Eri Yamada hit a 3 run home run.
The Comets fought back in the bottom of the 6th with Monica Abbott on the mound for the Bandits. Angeline Quiocho started the inning reaching on an error by Abbott, followed by Amanda Kamekona who reached first on a walk. Bianca Mejia hit a double to tie up the game and Dorian Shaw drove in Kamekona for the go ahead run.
The Comets shut down the Bandits in the top of the seventh to seal the win with a 7-5 victory. The Comets will take on the Bandits for final game of the series at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, NJ tomorrow night Sunday June 16, 2013 at 5pm EST.
