Wings Falter in Close Match against Soul

Wichita, KS-The Wichita Wings (6-13) dropped another match in a close 8-6 loss to the Chicago Soul (9-12) Thursday evening in the Sears Centre Arena. The victory for Chicago holds them in fourth place in the MISL, while Wichita falls to last place in the league with their fifth straight loss. In a low scoring affair, no particular player had a stand out game for either club, however Bato Radoncic proved valuable in the Soul's victory with two goals on the night.
The first quarter lacked excitement as neither team would be able to produce a goal, leaving the match 0-0 heading into the second quarter. Eric Lukin would score the only goal seen in the second quarter in favor of the Soul to shut out the Wings, 2-0 at halftime. Then, as seen several times this season, Wichita's attack produced in the third quarter. Adrian Gonzalez hit the two-point equalizer for the Wings, which was almost instantly followed up by a quick goal from Miguel Ferrer to give Wichita a 4-2 lead. Radoncic scored the Soul's second goal just before the quarter ended to leave the clubs tied heading into the final quarter.
As hard as Wichita tried, they would not be able to stop Chicago from pulling away in the final quarter. Aaron Nichols would score early on to put the Soul back in front, and less than a minute later Radoncic hit his second goal of the night to extend the Soul's advantage, 8-4. Freddy Moojen converted on a goal after placing the sixth attacker to bring the Wings within two, but could not continue the push as the Soul claimed a tight 8-6 win.
The Wings return home this Saturday, February 2nd when they host the Rochester Lancers at Hartman Arena; Kick-off set for 7:35 p.m. (CST).
