The Eagles will hit the road the next couple of weeks. They will be in Flint on Friday to take on the Michigan Warriors, for the 5th time this season. The Eagles lead the season series 3-1. They will then visit Kalamazoo for the first time this season, for a pair of afternoon contests Saturday and Sunday. The Eagles split a series with the Jr. K-Wings back in September at Pullar Stadium.
Next weekend the Eagles travel to Janesville.

Eagles sweep Jr. Blues at Pullar Stadium

The Soo Eagles completed a sweep of the Springfield Jr. Blues on Saturday night, as Alex Robert scored a goal with just under five minutes to play in the contest, to capture the 2-1 victory, in front of 627 fans at Pullar Stadium.
The Eagles defeated the Jr. Blues on Friday, 5-2.
The Eagles remain three points out of first place in the North American Hockey League's North Division, as Jamestown won a pair of games against Fresno.
Eagles net minder Zach Nagelvoort continues to play well, as he collected 27 saves and earned his sixth victory of the season. His goals against average is a sparkling 1.84 and save percentage of .942, is one of the best in the league.
Robert's game winning goal was set up nicely by defenseman, Michale Lant, who passed up a shot on the blue line, to find Robert, who had more net to shoot at, and he buried it. Lant, would pick up the game's first star for his efforts. Full marks go out to the Eagles defense, who as a unit, played a very solid game.
The game started with the Eagles flying out of the gate, and captain Jared VanWormer put the Eagles up 1-0, with his 8th goal of the season, just three minutes into the contest, with assists from Lant and Robin Hoglund. Much like the second half of Friday's game, the Eagles came out hitting, and were as physical in that period, as any time I have seen them this season at home, something always appreciated by the locals.
A story of this game was penalties, and lots of them, especially in the second period. This slowed down the Eagles momentum, a bit, and Springfield capitalized with the speedy Brett Skibba collecting his second goal of the weekend,at the 13:39 mark of the period, to tie the game at 1-1.
The Eagles penalty kill would come up big yet again on Saturday night, as Springfield couldn't capitalize on any of their six power-play opportunities. The Eagles lead the NAHL with a penalty kill rate now over 90%. The Eagles were 0-for-5 on the extra man advantage.
The Eagles would fire 37 shots on Springfield goaltender, Ryan Kellenburger, who in his own right, played well, but Robert's goal would be the back breaker, and Springfield really didn't get any good scoring opportunities the rest of the game.
On Friday night, the Eagles exploded with four goals in the second period, en route to a 5-2 victory, over the Springfield Jr. Blues. Robin Hoglund, Jared VanWormer, Eric Rivard and Alexander Taulien put the Eagles up 4-1 at the end of the second period. Kyle Loridon added an insurance goal late in the third period.
Eagles netminder Tyler Marble stopped 35-of-37 shots to earn the victory. The Eagles outshot the Jr. Blues, 42-37.
