B-Sens Stuff Marlies Offense in 3-2 Thanksgiving Win

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators picked up their fourth straight home win as they defeated the Toronto Marlies, 3-2, in the annual Thanksgiving Day game at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Shots on goal favored Toronto, 48-25.

Binghamton jumped out to an early lead at 2:22 of the first when forward Shane Prince knocked in his second goal in as many games from a pass from Jakob Silfverberg. Center Pat Cannone also registered an assist. Silfverberg would strike again a few minutes later for the B-Sens, converting a breakaway goal at 6:51 to extend the lead, 2-0.

The Marlies pulled within one at 1:06 of the second frame on forward Carter Ashton's goal, assisted by Paul Ranger and Keith Aucoin. The B-Sens headed into the third with a 2-1 lead.

Scoring halted until the 5:37 mark of the third period, when B-Sens defenseman Patrick Wiercioch rifled a shot past Marlies goaltender Ben Scrivens, opening up the lead, 3-1. The Marlies scored again late in regulation as forward Matt Frattin, assisted by Mike Kostka and Nazem Kadri, scored at 18:30 to cut Binghamton's lead to one. The B-Sens held on to their 3-2 lead to send the Marlies home with the loss.

Bishop earned his second win of the season, stopping 46 of the 48 shots he faced. Toronto goaltender Ben Scrivens made 22 saves on 25 shots.

The B-Sens return to action tomorrow evening in Syracuse against the Crunch at 7:30 p.m. Fans can listen live on "Binghamton's Classic Hits" 107.5 (WBBI-FM). They return home Saturday, November 24 to host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:05 p.m. to finish a stretch of three games in three days. Tickets are $19 for side and $18 for end seats.
