
Michigan uses early goal to top Soo, 4-2

The Michigan Warriors beat the Soo Eagles, 4-2, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout. Jon Farkas provided Michigan with the game-winning tally when he scored 13:03 into the the first period. Martin Gruse provided the assist.
The Warriors were led by Connor Lyons, who registered one goal. Lyons scored one second1 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-1 Michigan. Gruse assisted on the tally.
Michigan managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Warriors wound up below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. Michigan's offense was clicking better than usual and put 36 shots on goal during the game, better than the 26.8 shots per game it averages.
Michigan also got a goal from Zack Szajner as well. More assists for Michigan came via Sean Campbell, Colin Larkin, and Brad Pizzey, who contributed one a piece.
Soo managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Eagles finished below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. Soo put 37 shots on net during the contest, more than the 28.3 it averages per game.
The Eagles were helped by Chris Waterstreet, who had one goal. Waterstreet scored 19:09 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Michigan. Robin Hoglund picked up the assist. Kyle Froese also scored for Soo. In addition, Soo received assists from Michael Crowley, who had one.
Dillion Kelley made 35 saves for the Warriors on 37 shots. Michigan registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Tyler Marble recorded 32 saves for Soo. The Eagles registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
