Ticket Sales Exceeding Expectations

November 1, 2012 - International League (IL1)
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees News Release

Moosic, PA - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees announced today that total ticket package sales have already exceeded total package sales for the entire 2011 season.

A good indicator of the level of excitement building around the 2013 return of professional baseball to Northeast Pennsylvania is that Club 4Topps Table packages, one of the new seating options at the reconstructed PNC Field, sold out within weeks of the "on-sale" date for season tickets.

Through October, total full-, half- and quarter-season packages have exceeded the 2011 season's total. To date, if the front office were to not sell a single ticket through April 2013, attendance would still be almost half of the 2011 season's total.

"Sales have just been incredible - and it's only November 1! Tickets to PNC Field are proving to be a hot commodity, especially with the ballpark's reduced seating capacity," said Rob Crain, President and General Manager. "One of the most promising aspects of these numbers is that they've been achieved without the sale of any group or single game tickets."

Doug Augis, Vice President of Ticket Sales, said he has been in awe since early August when 2011 season ticket holder renewals began. Once packages went on sale to the general public in September, Augis is happy to report that he and his staff have had trouble getting off the phone.

He attributes the early success of season ticket sales to lowered ticket prices, the excitement of the grand re-opening of the ballpark and new promotions, and simply listening to the fans.

"Fans have told us what they want, and we plan to deliver," Augis said. "People realize that the new era is going to be all about the fan experience, and that's just making tickets fly out the door."
