CPIFL Approves Commissioner and Executive BoardAugust 16, 2012 - Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL)
"I am certainly humbled that the league Board of Directors has confidence in my abilities. We have a great group of owners that really understand the business side of the game. I hope my background and experience can be asset to the operation of the league and the teams", said Bain upon his appointment.
Bain started as an intern with the Sioux Falls Storm in 2006. He then served as Director of Media and Public Relations for the Storm for two years. Bain left the Storm in the fall of 2008 and accepted the position of Assistant General Manager of the Wichita Wild. While in Wichita, the Wild set franchise records for ticket sales and sponsorship sales. Following the 2011 season, Bain left the Wild to attend law school at the University of Kansas.
"James' record of success in indoor football speaks for itself. Over a period of many years, James has earned the respect of many people in indoor football and he was a natural choice for the position of Commissioner", said Mid-Missouri (Sedalia, MO) Outlaws co-owner Ethan Henson.
The league Board of Directors also elected owners that will serve on the league's Executive Committee. The Executive Committee will oversee the Commissioner and set the tone and direction for the league. Team owners elected Jeremy Ploeger from the soon to be announced Kansas City franchise, Ethan Henson from the Mid-Missouri Outlaws, and John Blazek from the Wichita Wild to the Executive Committee.
"Having a strong Executive Committee was critical to our decision to join the CPIFL. Having fellow owners that understand that the league needs to be run in an efficient and professional manner sets the CPIFL apart from many other leagues around the country", said Oklahoma (Tulsa) Defenders owner Lamar Baker.
