August 18, 2012 - International Basketball League (IBL)

In Guelph, the Royals jumped out to a 6-0 lead and held on for a 7-4 win over the Barrie Baycats in the only IBL playoff game Saturday night. The win evens the best-of-seven semi-final series 2-2. Game five is Sunday night in Barrie at 7 p.m.

Guelph starter David Hatt pitched eight strong innings, allowing only three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out eight to pick up the win. Chris Nagorski pitched the ninth, allowing Barrie's final run on two hits and one walk.

Guelph scored two runs in each of the second, third and fourth innings for a 6-0 lead before Barrie replied with three runs in the sixth to cut the margin to 6-3.

Mark Allen led the Royals at the plate with three hits including a double and a triple. Jeremy Ware, Kevin Treichel and Nathan Grant each added two hits with Ware and Grant each contributing an RBI.

Justin Interisano also had a hit and three RBI's including a two-run single in the third inning and a sacrifice fly in the fourth. He also walked and scored the Royals first run in the second inning on a wild pitch.

Jeff Cowan had two hits to lead Barrie while Jon Waltenbury had an RBI double and Kyle Degrace, Robert Recuenco and Matt Logan each added RBI singles.

Barrie starter Scott Kelly took the loss, allowing six runs, all earned, on eight hits and four walks with five strikeouts. Ryan Dillabough came on in relief to finish up the final four innings, allowing only one run on five hits and a walk while striking out three.
