During Girl Scouts of Connecticut's International Camporee, campers and staff who are attending the week-long overnight experience will have the chance to take in one of America's beloved pastimes: baseball!

Over 400 International Camporee participants will attend the Connecticut Tigers' evening game against the Staten Island Yankees, affiliate of the New York Yankees, at Dodd Stadium in Norwich on August 9 at 7:05 p.m. Those attending include girls from Australia, Japan, Canada, Ghana, Nigeria, and England, with counselors from Columbia, Mexico, Poland, Germany, New Zealand, and the Ukraine.

Girl Scouts and Girl Guides will sit together, enjoy a traditional hot dog, and the Connecticut Tiger's mascot will meet the Camporee's mascot, Bumble Bee, on the field for some light entertainment. This event is a part of the week-long celebration of making lifelong friends, while working together to study world food sources and change the world, one meal at a time.

"The International Camporee is a chance for Girl Scouts and Girl Guides to make new friends and change the world, while also experiencing many different cultural activities," said Margaret Hansen-Kaplan, Chief Operating Officer, Girl Scouts of Connecticut. "We're excited to expose the girls to a true American experience. The Connecticut Tigers have been gracious in hosting us at this game."

The Connecticut Tigers are the Class A short season affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play in the New York-Penn League. Some popular opponents include the Brooklyn Cyclones, affiliate of the New York Mets, and the Lowell Spinners, affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
