IBL Playoff Report - July 27/12
July 27, 2012 - International Basketball League (IBL)
The Brantford Red Sox took charge with an eight-run third inning en route to a convincing 21-5 win in game one of their opening round IBL playoff series versus the Burlington Twins. Along with their eight-run third to take a 10-1 lead, they also scored four runs in the fourth, and seven runs in the sixth to cruise to victory. They lead the series 1-0 with game two slated for Saturday at 2pm in Burlington.
Chris Chavez earned the victory for the Red Sox, starting and allowing two earne runs on three hits with two walks and five strikeouts over the first five innings.
Brad Hogeterp and Dave Triplet each threw two innings, as the Red Sox held the Twin to just seven hits on the night.
Brantford on the other hand, pounded out 19 hits, including two by Terrell Alliman - a double and a home run - finishing with a pair of RBI and four runs scored. Jos McCurdy had three hits and four RBI with three runs scored, while Steve Lewis had three hits with three runs batted in and four runs scored in the win. Hyung Cho doubled twice, driving in three runs and scoring twice, while Tyler Patzalek and Scott Thorman each had two hits, an RBI with one and two runs scored, respectively. Tyler Burnell had three hits and three runs scored with two RBI, and Wayne Forman singled, doubled, drove in a pair and scored once. Lee Delfino and Dwayne Bailey drove in a run, with Bailey adding a run scored.
Strater Kyle Bolton was strapped with the loss, allowing ten runs - just three earned - on seven hits with three walks and one strikeout over 2 2/3 innings. The Burlington defence wasn't much help to their pitchers on the night, making five errors.
Jeff Kosta had two of Burlington's seven hits with a single, a double and three RBI, while Kyle Morton also singled and doubled with a run scored. Connor Panas singled and drove in a pair with a run scored, and Branson Joseph singled and scored a run.

The London Majors were set to host the Kitchener Panthers in game one of their best-of-seven opening round series, but the game was postponed due to weather. The game will be played Saturday night at 7:30pm in London.
