TRBL Adds Nighthawks for 2013 Season
July 25, 2012 - Tobacco Road Basketball League (TRBL) News Release
Wilmington, NC: In the first of several anticipated off-season additions, the Tobacco Road Basketball League has announced that the Johnston County Nighthawks have joined the TRBL for the 2013 season. The addition comes on the heels of a recently announced move by the Carolina Gladiators to Robeson County, North Carolina. "We appreciate all of the fans and support that the Gladiators had in Smithfield last season. It is a great market, and we are certain that the Nighthawks will do well there. Our ties in the Lumberton area are strong, and it simply made good business sense for everyone involved to make the move," comments Jerome Williams, owner of the Carolina Gladiators.
Chuck Paylin, former manager of the Carolina Gladiators, will take over as owner of the new Nighthawks organization that will play home games at the SRAC in Smithfield, North Carolina. Tom Murray will be the team's head coach. "There is no better way to grow as a league than to have existing, proven league members and teams owners develop new markets for us. The Cary Invasion started exactly the same way in 2011," says TRBL Board Member and Wilmington Sea Dawgs owner Pete Gratale.
The TRBL will start its second season in April 2013. ScoreTRAX.com provides score broadcasting services for all TRBL games and technology services for all TRBL teams. League operations are funded through existing sponsorships, and qualified member teams will be charged no league fees.
