SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The Minnesota Swarm's Youth Box League (YBL) - the largest youth box lacrosse league in the country - concludes its fourth season in the Twin Cities with its championship round this Thursday, May 24 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Chaska Community Center.

Founded in 2009, the YBL featured a record high 53 teams comprised of over 900 kids this season. The YBL is split in three grade divisions (3/4, 5/6 and 7/8) and teams play eight regular season contests in the spring before battling out in the playoffs. Participants also receive hands-on instruction from Swarm players and coaches during clinics throughout the season.

"It's really inspiring to see all of these kids participate in this league and to watch it grow as it has," Swarm Co-Owner and Vice President Andy Arlotta said. "The playoffs are always an exciting time for everyone involved and Mo Gaitan (YBL Director) has done an excellent job of taking the league to the next level this season. I'm really proud of her accomplishments."

The YBL started with 12 teams and 190 participants four years ago, and since then has seen its participation numbers rise each season.
